Taco Bell @FeedTheBeat Selects American Speedway as one of America’s Hottest Up-and-Coming Rock Bands

19 11 2009

IRVINE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Taco Bell® continues to Feed the Beat™ for up-and-coming rock acts and announced today the 100 bands that made the 2009 Feed the Beat lineup. Celebrating its fourth year, Feed the Beat provides free food and marketing support to America’s up-and-coming rock acts. This year, touring bands from across the nation, including The All-American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, Forever The Sickest Kids, We The Kings, Atreyu, Owl City, Dr. Dog and more, will receive $500 in Taco Bell Bucks for free Fourthmeal, the late night meal between dinner and breakfast. More than just free food, bands also receive important marketing support for their music.

Music fans will be able to discover each Feed the Beat band on Taco Bell’s Virtual Music Festival Web site (www.feedthebeat.com) which showcases their music and exclusive content created for the site. Once there, fans can listen to bands they know or discover new tunes as they stream music via the Feed the Beat Music Player. If they discover a band they like and want to purchase music, they are directed to the band’s Web site where they can purchase the song.

Feed the Beat began as a simple way to show how much we love and support independent music, but it’s grown to become a benchmark for how Taco Bell supports bands and artists,” said David Ovens, Chief Marketing Officer, Taco Bell Corp. “Our Feed the Beat bands have been showcased via our partnerships with MTV and ESPN, as we work hard to highlight their talent and music. Whether helping to extend the spotlight on their nominations for Video Music Awards, getting them to play at the VMAs, or creating live concerts and soundtrack opportunities during the X Games, the work never stops in support of our bands. We want to help our 2009 lineup to realize at least the same type of success and hopefully more.”

Taco Bell is proud to congratulate all of the 2009 Feed the Beat bands:

“I worked at a Taco Bell in Edmond, Okla. for over three years and still eat Taco Bell every week. Even when we’re out of the country, I have friends on army bases who bring me Taco Bell,” said Mike Kennerty, guitarist for The All-American Rejects. “Getting to be a part of the Feed the Beat family is sweet to say the least. Thanks, Taco Bell!”

Studio Update!

26 08 2009

Greetings fellow Speedrockers!

We all wanted to give you a quick update as we are now back in the studio recording our sophomore release.  It feels so good to be back tracking for another record especially knowing that the new material flat out rocks!  To say the least, this album is going to be fast.  Faster than “Ship of Fools”.  And, we think we got some hits on here too!  So, it is going to be very interesting once the Syndicate (our radio promotions company) gets a hold of this and starts pushing to radio.
Anyway, at the bottom on this blog are some pictures.  They aren’t of the greatest quality, nor very interesting, but we still wanted to put them up anyway as fans have been writing in requesting some snaps.

We think we are going to call the new record “A Bigger Boat”.  In January 2010, It’s going to be released by our label, Prophase Music, and distributed exclusively by MVD Entertainment Group throughout the U.S.  We are going to release both Vinyl and CD at the same time, unlike what we did with “Ship of Fools” where we released the Vinyl first, then the CD several months after.  The cool part is that the Vinyl is going to include a card with a unique code so fans can download MP3’s for free.

Winter/Spring 2010 Tour plans are in the works.  We are speaking with a few agents right now to get on tour with a National, we’ll see how that pans out.  We definately want to tour the South next year though.  We have A LOT of fans down there so it’s best we show them a good time and make the trip happen.  BUT, first thing is first and that’s get the record done which we’ll be wrapping up in September and October.  Our show schedule is somewhat light for 4th quarter 2009 as we finalize the new record and get ready to set it in motion.  We can’t wait and super stoked!

Summer Update!

10 06 2009

It has been awhile since we blogged on here to keep everyone updated. We’ve played a shit ton of shows over spring, toured with the Meatmen, not to mention all the weekenders we did. Most of the shows have been great. The tour with the Meatmen was absolutely awesome! All shows rocked and we had such a great time. We hope to get back on the road with them in Fall.

At this point, it’s time to think about our second record. We will be keeping shows/touring light over the summer as we wrap up some odds and ends with the new material. August is the month that will be blank as far as shows are concerned. We plan to enter the studio to start tracking at the end of August. We are really excited about this and can’t wait to deliver our secord record, which we think will be entitled “Need A Bigger Boat”. We think we got some hitmakers in store for you, some of which you will get a taste of at up coming shows this summer.

We are going to record at the WelfareLine Studios in Royersford, PA, which is the same studio where we recorded “Ship of Fools”. Being that our singer, Mikey Speedway, owns the studio, it makes complete sense to record there again. ha ha

Anyway, thanks to all who came out to the shows over the past couple of months. We really love to play live and enjoy watching you all go ape shit. Good times! And, thanks again. We hope to see you out again soon.

The Next Record

16 12 2008

American Speedway is putting the finishing touches on some new songs.  The band was hoping to be in the studio late Dec. but they aren’t ready yet.  Michael Speedway says “we just aren’t ready yet, there is still lots to be worked on.  We just need to ‘tweak’ the songs so we are comfortable and ensure that’s what we want”

The band gave no time frame on when the next record would be out; however, they were able to confirm the name of the record – “Need A Bigger Boat”

August

5 08 2008

Wow, it’s already August, time went by so fast this summer.  Back in April, we booked a ton of shows to keep us busy during the heat season; it’s amazing that most all of those shows are now the past.  At this point in early August, we decided to keep the show schedule light as we want to finish up some new songs that we’ve been working on.  75% of our next album is almost done.  From the looks of it, our sophmore release is going to be very similiar to “Ship of Fools” but with a tad more creativity and flare.  Mike and John have got some pretty cool shit for you all.  Bill and Callahan, if you can believe it, have further tightened up the rhythmn section with t’s crossed and i’s dotted. But, in the end, it will still be the same sounds that you’ve heard before, you just don’t get to hear it that often.  Here’s to PBR, it tastes sooo good!

And, oh, screen printed by the band, new “Who’s Got the Cocaine?” shirts are now available to order.  Go to our merch section to order.  All sizes available for men.  Ladies, we made something special just for you!

18 06 2008

American Speedway topped the charts at #1 in song played for the week of June 8th. “One Foot In, One Foot Out” was played a total of 27 times last week, beating out such legends as the Clash, Nirvana, Pennywise, Agent Orange, Bouncing Souls, just to name a few. Thanks Sirius!
